Loser or Lost Soul?

I heard something that upset me.

A man was telling someone that a man that rents a room from him is a loser because after several attempts at suicide he had finally achieved it by throwing a hot plate into the tub with him; after seeing several scars on his wrists the insensitive man said, "see, I told you he was a loser."

So now what?
